Outdoor Play Space
The Library provides an outdoor play area to encourage early literacy, family engagement, and educational play. The outdoor play area is intended to be a safe and welcoming space for children and their caregivers to enjoy activities that complement the library’s mission of learning and community engagement.
Hours of Use
The outdoor play area is open during regular library hours unless otherwise posted; it closes at dusk. The Library reserves the right to close the play area at any time due to weather, maintenance, safety concerns, or Library sponsored programming.
Eligibility and Supervision
The outdoor play area is intended primarily for children ages 2–12.
Children must be supervised by a responsible adult caregiver at all times. The caregiver must remain in the outdoor play area and is responsible for the safety, behavior, and supervision of the child or children in their care.
Safety and Conduct
All users of the outdoor play area are expected to follow the Library’s Maintenance of Public Order and the following rules:
- Play equipment and structures must be used as intended.
- Running, pushing, or other unsafe behavior is prohibited.
- Climbing on fences or structures not intended for play is prohibited.
- Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and similar equipment are not permitted within the play area.
- Glass containers, alcohol, tobacco, and vaping are prohibited.
- Pets are not permitted within the play area, except service animals as defined by law.
- Users must dispose of trash in designated receptacles.
Maintenance and Closures
The Library strives to maintain the outdoor play area in a safe and clean condition. Users should report damaged equipment or safety concerns to library staff.
Enforcement
Failure to comply with this policy or the Library’s Code of Conduct may result in removal from library property and may be addressed in accordance with Library behavior/conduct policies.
