What We Do

Quality library service is important to our community. The Friends of the Center Moriches Free Public Library Inc. is a not-for-profit, charitable group of civic-minded neighbors formed to support the Center Moriches Library. FOL has provided many needed items for the library and conducted numerous library and community programs.

During this past year, FOL was super charged with activities and programs. Our three-day book sale in September was a huge success and the Thrift Shelves are always fully stocked and thoroughly enjoyed by all patrons. The Cloisters and Xavier on the Hudson bus trip also in September was fantastic. It was great food and a wonderful tour of The Cloisters. In October, FOL ran a number of events during Friends of the Library Week such as the Haunted LI presentation, a Haunted Tea, and Pumpkin Decorating for Children. We awarded three local seniors with scholarships; conducted two food drives; presented gifts to all library staff; refreshments for the Knitting Club; supported the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program as well as 100 Books Before Graduation for teens; purchased well needed computer furniture for the library; and maintained our three outreach programs – Free Little Libraries at Kaler’s Pond and Moriches Bay Recreation Center and Library at the Laundromat. The FOL Puzzle Shelf is overwhelming popular and the Book Club continues to thrive.

This year we hope to introduce some new programs, bus trips and continue our many tried and true programs. Watch for all of our program announcements on this website and in the Center Moriches Library Newsletters throughout the year. And please join us if you would like to become an active member of the FOL.
