Colonial Youth & Family Services

Colonial Youth & Family Services is a not-for-profit community-based youth and family agency located in Mastic, NY. Our origins are in a grassroots movement which was encouraged and assisted by local residents, school officials, and the Suffolk County Youth Bureau back in 1970. A countywide needs assessment by the Youth Bureau culminated in the agency being incorporated as a private, non-profit organization in 1973 with initial funding from the Suffolk County Youth Bureau. Originally developed to serve the William Floyd School District, which encompasses the hamlets of Mastic, Mastic Beach, Shirley, and the Moriches, Colonial’s incorporation now enables us to offer services throughout Suffolk County.

East End Kids Academy

East End Kids Academy offers a learning experience, which will engage and nurture the whole child; to inspire a balanced growth of heart, mind, body, and spirit. The children learn through structured – directed lessons as well as exploratory and hands on activities.

East Moriches School District

The East Moriches School District has the highest expectations for its elementary school program (grades K-4). Children are provided a well-structured and caring learning environment consistent with the community’s goal of high quality, creative and challenging instruction. All students receive appropriate instruction in Mathematics, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Health/Personal Safety, Library/Study Skills, Computer Skills, Music, Art and Physical Education. Teachers plan units of study and daily lesson plans consistent with the New York State Standards.

Little Me Busy Bee Infant & Toddler Childcare

Our program now offers everything from arts and crafts to story time, music and movement, outdoor activities, and so much more. Your child will have the opportunity to not only grow their mind, but also to grow socially as they interact with their peers while being nurtured by our caring staff. We are confident that our program can provide that “home-like” atmosphere missing from so many corporate daycare settings.

Local History Photos

Phil Trypuc Sr. ran a photography shop in Center Moriches.  Throughout the years, he took pictures of life in the area and graciously donated several of his pictures to the library.  We have digitized them and collected them online.

Manorville Historical Society

Located at the former one-room schoolhouse, the historical society runs a museum of artifacts donated by local residents and a thrift store.

Masury Estate

Masury Estate is maintained by the Holiday Beach Property Owners Association. John Masury, a local paint manufacturer, built the estate beginning in 1894. Work was completed by his widow, though sadly most of the building was washed away in the hurricane of 1938. Today the building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is maintained as part of the local history of the area.

The Association promotes civic pride and betterment of quality of life in areas of Moriches, Center Moriches and East Moriches, and promote education, community service and other community activities and organizations.
