The Library is excited to announce that in late 2024 we were awarded a Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology (CREST) Grant to create an outdoor Children’s Play Area and Community Garden Space. The Library would like to thank retired Assemblyman Fred Thiele for his assistance in securing this $125,000 grant. Careful budgeting has allowed the library to proceed with this project without asking the taxpayers for a bond.

We are excited to see the play area coming together. The pergola has been installed along with a sensory path and some toys. Fake grass and a special, ADA-compliant mulch is being installed this week. More toys will be installed this week and we anticipate opening the area up next week!

The entrance from the parking lot is open! Please be careful when walking through as the walkway is still fenced on the sides. Pavers are being installed in the Community Garden.

New, flush, concrete sidewalks are curing! New bollards to protect the building are in place. The space is almost ready to have the play equipment installed!

Curbs are installed and the rest of the area is being graded and prepared for the new, flush, concrete sidewalks.

Beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, construction will begin on the Outdoor Play Area and Garden. Due to sitework, the rear entrance to the library from the parking lot will be closed. Patrons will need to enter through the front of the building by the cafe or Teen Emergency Exit. We anticipate this portion of the work to last 2 weeks. We appreciate your understanding during this phase of construction.
