Literacy Suffolk provides tutoring to adults who:
- are at least 16 years of age and out of school.
- read and write at or below the sixth grade level.
- need to improve their basic English conversation skills and understanding of American culture.
- We help adults in Suffolk County to learn to read and write (Basic Literacy) or to speak English (ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages.)
- Tutoring is FREE.
- You will be tutored at a nearby library for 2 to 3 hours a week.
All student applicants are interviewed and evaluated. Referrals to other programs are made as needed.

- A volunteer will contact you to arrange an interview
- We will call you when we have a tutor for you, or we will try to find you another program
